Getting started with VendMizer

This quickstart takes you from a fresh install to your first live product in about ten minutes. You do not need any other e-commerce plugin — VendMizer is a complete store on its own. When you are ready to go deeper, the full User Manual covers every module.

1. Install and activate

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New and search for “VendMizer”, or upload the ZIP you downloaded.
  2. Click Install, then Activate.
  3. VendMizer adds its own dashboard to the admin menu — separate from the standard WordPress screens — which is where you run the store.
The free version is a fully working store, not a trial. Nothing is time-limited and no card is required to use it.

2. Run the setup wizard

The first time you open the VendMizer dashboard, a short setup wizard collects the essentials so the rest of the store has sensible defaults.

  • Store details — your store name and contact address.
  • Currency and locale — the currency you sell in and how prices are formatted.
  • Modules — turn on only the modules you need; you can change these any time under Settings → Modules.

You can re-run or revisit any of these choices later, so it is fine to accept the defaults now and refine them once you have a product to look at.

3. Add your first product

  1. Open Products → Add product.
  2. Give it a name, a price, and at least one image.
  3. Pick a product type — a simple product, a variable product (sizes/colors), a digital download, or a gift card.
  4. Set stock if you track inventory, then Publish.
Selling digital files? Choose the digital download type and attach the file — delivery, secure links, and download limits are handled for you.

4. Connect a payment method

Open Settings → Payments and enable at least one gateway so customers can check out. VendMizer supports major global and regional gateways out of the box, including Stripe, PayPal, Square, Authorize.Net, and more.

  1. Choose a gateway and switch it on.
  2. Paste the API keys from that provider’s own dashboard (each gateway links to where to find them).
  3. Use the provider’s test/sandbox mode first, place a test order, then switch to live.
Buy-now-pay-later and additional regional gateways expand your checkout options — see the Free vs Pro comparison.

5. Set up shipping and go live

If you ship physical goods, open Settings → Shipping and add at least one shipping method — a flat rate, free shipping over a threshold, or live carrier rates. Digital-only stores can skip this step.

Place one full test order from the storefront to confirm the flow end to end: add to cart → checkout → payment → confirmation email. When that works, you are live.
