VendMizer User Manual

This is the complete reference for running a store with VendMizer — a tour of every area of the plugin, organised so you can jump straight to what you need. If you are setting up for the first time, the Getting Started guide is the fastest path to a live store; come back here when you want the deeper detail. Everything below describes the free plugin, with VendMizer Pro additions called out where they apply.

How VendMizer is organised

VendMizer runs as a plugin on your own WordPress site and adds its own dashboard to the admin menu — a dedicated home for your store, separate from the standard WordPress screens. From there you manage products, orders, customers, and every setting in one place.

The store is built from modules. Each module is a self-contained area of functionality — payments, shipping, and so on — that you switch on under Settings → Modules. Turn on only what your store needs; you can change this at any time, and the free plugin already includes everything required to sell.

New here? Do the five steps in Getting Started first — install, setup wizard, first product, payments, and a test order — then use this manual to go deeper on each area.

Products & catalog

Everything you sell is a product, created under Products → Add product. VendMizer supports several product types so one store can sell very different things:

  • Simple product — a single item with one price.
  • Variable product — one product with options such as size or colour, each variation with its own price, stock, and SKU.
  • Digital download — a file customers receive after purchase, with secure links and download limits handled for you.
  • Gift card — a prepaid balance a customer can buy and redeem at checkout.

Each product carries images, a description, a price (with optional sale price), and — if you track inventory — stock levels. Group products with categories and tags so shoppers can browse, and feature the ones you want to push.

Selling files? The Getting Started guide walks through the digital-download type step by step.

Payments & checkout

Open Settings → Payments to enable the gateways customers pay through. VendMizer supports major global and regional providers out of the box, including Stripe, PayPal, Square, and Authorize.Net, so you can offer the methods your buyers expect.

  1. Switch on a gateway and paste the API keys from that provider’s dashboard.
  2. Use the provider’s test or sandbox mode to place a trial order end to end.
  3. Switch to live mode once a test order completes cleanly.

Checkout is designed to be fast and distraction-free. Card details are handled by your chosen gateway and never stored on your site, which keeps you clear of the heaviest compliance burdens.

VendMizer Pro adds further checkout options — extra regional gateways and buy-now-pay-later among them. See how the plans compare on the comparison pages.
Need extra information at checkout — a delivery note, a gift message, an ID upload? Pro’s Checkout Field Editor adds your own fields (text, choices, dates, file uploads) with rules that show or hide them based on the cart, shipping method, or payment method.

Shipping, tax & delivery

For physical goods, open Settings → Shipping and add at least one method. VendMizer covers the common models:

  • Flat rate — a fixed charge per order or per item.
  • Free shipping — always, or above a spend threshold you set.
  • Live carrier rates — real-time quotes from the carriers you connect.

Configure tax rules to match where you sell, so the correct amount is calculated at checkout. Digital-only stores can skip shipping entirely — downloads are delivered automatically after payment, with the secure links and limits set on the product.

Sending one order to more than one place? Pro’s Multiple Shipping Addresses module lets a shopper split an order across several destinations — each with its own items and shipping method — all charged as a single payment, with the option to add a new address right at checkout.

Orders & customers

Every purchase becomes an order you can open, review, and move through its lifecycle — from received, to processing, to completed or refunded. Each order records what was bought, who bought it, and how they paid.

Customers get accounts where they can view their order history and, for digital purchases, re-download their files. Transactional emails — order confirmations, receipts, and status updates — are sent automatically; if your host struggles to deliver mail, install a reputable SMTP plugin so those messages arrive reliably.

Signed-in customers can also save several delivery addresses to their account and pick one at checkout instead of retyping — the built-in Saved Address Book, included free.

Discounts & selling tools

Run promotions with discount codes — a percentage or fixed amount off, optionally limited by date, usage count, or minimum spend. Combined with categories, featured products, and gift cards, these are the levers you use to grow average order value and reward returning customers.

Advanced growth modules are part of VendMizer Pro — the License Guide explains what unlocks and how to activate it.

Multilingual & multi-store

VendMizer is built to sell across languages, with right-to-left (RTL) support included — so an Arabic storefront reads correctly without extra plugins. This makes it a strong fit for multilingual markets while keeping everything on a store you host and own.

Running more than one store? VendMizer is designed to manage multiple stores centrally, so agencies and multi-brand owners can oversee several storefronts without juggling separate, disconnected installs.

Users, roles & settings

VendMizer adds store-specific roles so you can delegate safely: a store manager can run day-to-day operations — products and orders — without the full administrative access a store administrator holds. Assign the right role to each teammate so people have exactly the access they need.

The Settings area is where the store is configured — store details, currency and locale, payments, shipping, tax, modules, and your Pro license. Sensible defaults are set during the initial setup wizard, and you can revisit any of them at any time.

VendMizer Pro

The free plugin is a complete store. VendMizer Pro layers advanced modules on top for stores that need more — additional checkout options, growth tools, and more — as a one-time license per site rather than a recurring subscription.
