What the differences mean day to day
Own it once vs. rent it every month
Shopify is a subscription: the store works only while you keep paying, and the monthly fee is a permanent line item that grows as you move up tiers for more staff seats or live shipping rates. VendMizer is a one-time license per site — your only recurring cost is the hosting you already control. Over a few years the difference in total cost of ownership is substantial.
The per-sale fee on outside gateways
Unless you use Shopify’s own payment processor, Shopify charges an additional fee on every sale, on top of what your payment provider already takes — and its own processor is not available in every country, including Saudi Arabia. Arabic and Gulf commerce, in the core
Shopify supports many languages, but full right-to-left storefronts usually rely on a specific theme or a paid app, and Gulf payment methods (mada, Tamara, Tabby) come through third-party gateways that also trigger the per-sale fee. VendMizer is Arabic- and RTL-native, and regional payments and carriers are built in with no extra platform charge.
Where Shopify is the stronger choice
Shopify is one of the most polished, reliable commerce platforms in the world. Because it is fully hosted, you never touch a server, an update, or a backup — it just runs, at any scale, with 24/7 support behind it. Its app store is enormous, its themes are excellent, its checkout converts well, and features like automation and AI assistance are built in on every plan. If you want a hands-off, professionally managed store and are comfortable renting the platform, Shopify is a very strong choice.
